Making a Memory

Date:12/3/23

Category: Advent

Passage: Mark 13:28-31

Speaker: David Brown

A Christmas to Remember

Remembering as presented in Scriptures is a meaningful, sacred participation in the reality of past events resulting in powerful implications for one’s life in the present! Share in worship and prayer this Sunday as Lead Pastor David Brown Making a Memory for the first Sunday Advent.

Advent means "coming." We remember our longing for the birth of Jesus the Messiah, who brings HOPE to the world. Today we light the first candle of Advent, the candle of HOPE

Micah 5:2-4
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”
Therefore Israel will be abandoned until the time when she who is in labor bears a son, and the rest of his brothers return to join the Israelites.
He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.”

This Advent season, we put our HOPE in the promised Messiah, who will shepherd his people, redeem them from sin and heal their brokenness, and establish His everlasting Kingdom. Help us to share the HOPE that we have in Christ with others this Christmas.

We will be led in song and praise by the Armstrong Chancel Choir directed by Ben Basone and accompanied by Stacy Haney on the organ and piano. Today we sing songs to our savior with UMH, Hail to the Lord’s Anointed, Emmanuel, Emmanuel, and There Is a Fountain Filled with Blood. During this service we will be highlighting our Children’s Sunday School Program with a special Children’s Moment with Dianna Sheely. Special thanks to Shelley B for being the liturgist and leading us in the Call to Worship and scripture passages and Maureen and Kent S. for lighting of the first Advent Candle.

Production Team: we first want to thank the Armstrong Youth and Alex K for helping with running the visuals during the stream, Shanon Rice, Director of Digital Programming and Communications, and Kashena Rhoill, Digital Associate.
