Welcome to Armstrong Chapel We're glad you are here!

A Memorial Day Prayer

Almighty and everlasting God,

On this day of remembrance, we lift our hearts in gratitude for the courageous men and women who laid down their lives in the service of our country. We honor their devotion, their bravery, and the ultimate sacrifice they made for the cause of freedom.

Lord, we ask that You pour out Your sheltering grace and comfort upon the families who mourn their loss. Wrap those who grieve in Your loving presence, and mend the shattered pieces of their hearts with Your peace.

Protect our troops who still stand in the gap today. Grant them courage, strength, and the assurance that they are surrounded by Your enduring love.

Lead us as Your people to work for justice, reconciliation, and harmony in our daily lives.  In the holy name of Christ, we pray.

Amen.

Today, Rev. David W. Brown continues our journey of faith with an inspiring message centered on the theme, From Prayer to Power.

Acts 2:1–4 (CEB) 1 “When Pentecost Day arrived, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound from heaven like the howling of a fierce wind filled the entire house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be individual flames of fire alighting on each one of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them to speak…”— (CEB)

1 Corinthians 12:4–7 (NIV) “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”

This service will be enriched by the uplifting and soulful music of the Armstrong Chancel Choir under the direction of Ben Basone, accompanied by Stacy Haney on the organ. We are also honored to welcome special music by the River’s Edge Brass Band, conducted by Kevin Michael Holzman.

Together, we will lift our hearts in worship through timeless hymns and patriotic favorites, including The Battle Hymn of the Republic, Land of Freedom, Taps performed by Steve Monroe, America the Beautiful, and more.
