Welcome to virtual worship at Armstrong Chapel! We’re so glad you’re here.

This week, Rev. David W. Brown continues our journey through 1 Peter with the message, “Lessons of Contentment” based on 1 Peter 5:6–11. In a world filled with worry, comparison, and uncertainty, this passage reminds us to humble ourselves before God, cast our anxieties on Him, and stand firm in His grace.

Together, we’ll reflect on what it means to find true peace and contentment through faith in Christ. We are also blessed to have the beautiful music of our Bell Choir as part of worship this week.

Whether you’re worshipping with us regularly or checking out Armstrong Chapel for the first time, we pray this service encourages your heart and draws you closer to God. Be sure to like, subscribe, and share to help others connect with worship and the message of hope found in Jesus Christ.

HYMN Thine be the Glory #308 UMH

Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son;
endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won.
Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,
kept the folded grave clothes where thy body lay.
Refrain:
Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son;
endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won.
Lo! Jesus meets thee, risen from the tomb;
lovingly he greets thee, scatters fear and gloom.
Let the church with gladness hymns of triumph sing,
for our Lord now liveth;
death hath lost its sting. (Refrain)
No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life!
Life is naught without thee; aid us in our strife.
Make us more than conquerors,
through thy deathless love;
bring us safe through Jordan
to thy home above. (Refrain)

SCRIPTURE Acts 1:6-12 (NRSVUE)

6 So when they had come together, they asked him,“Lord, is this the time when you will restore thekingdom to Israel?” 7 He replied, “It is not for you toknow the times or periods that the Father has set byhis own authority. 8 But you will receive power whenthe Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be mywitnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, andto the ends of the earth.” 9 When he had said this, asthey were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloudtook him out of their sight. 10 While he was going andthey were gazing up toward heaven, suddenly twomen in white robes stood by them. 11 They said, “Menof Galilee, why do you stand looking up towardheaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from youinto heaven, will come in the same way as you sawhim go into heaven.” 12 Then they returned toJerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is nearJerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away.

HYMN Where the Spirit of the Lord Is #2119 FWS

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is peace;
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is love.
There is comfort in life’s darkest hour;
There is light and life, there is help and power in the
Spirit, in the Spirit of the Lord.

RECOGNITION OF GRADUATES

SCRIPTURE 1 Peter 5:6-11 (NRSVUE)

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you. 8 Discipline yourselves; keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in your faith, for you know that your brothers and sisters in all the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering. 10 And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you. 11 To him be the power forever and ever. Amen.
Thank you for sharing this morning worship.  See you next week.
