Welcome to worship at Armstrong Chapel UMC. We’re glad you’re here.

Celebrate the joy and hope of Easter Sunday at Armstrong Chapel with a powerful message, Seeking Resurrection Life. Rooted in Colossians 3:1–4 (NRSVUE) and Psalm 118:1–2 (CEV), this message invites us to lift our hearts toward the life Christ offers—renewed, restored, and alive in Him.

CALL TO WORSHIP: adapted from writing by Katherine Hawker
LEADER: Let us sing a song of creation’s birth...
PEOPLE: Praise to God!
LEADER: The Lord GOD took on human flesh and dwell among us.
PEOPLE: Praise to God!
LEADER: The chains of sin through our lives even now are broken.
PEOPLE: Let all that have breath sing praise to God

HYMN: Christ the Lord is Risen Today

Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Earth and heaven in chorus say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids him rise, Alleluia!
Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia

Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once he died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where’s thy victory, boasting grave? Alleluia!

Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia!
Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like him, like him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord:
 who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
 born of the Virgin Mary,
 suffered under Pontius Pilate,
 was crucified, dead and buried;
 the third day he rose from the dead;
 he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God
the Father Almighty.
 From thence he shall come to judge
 the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
 the holy catholic* church.
 the communion of saints,
 the forgiveness of sins.
 the resurrection of the body,
 and the life everlasting. Amen.

SCRIPTURE Psalm 118:1-2 (CEV)

1 Tell the Lord how thankful you are, because God is kind and always merciful. 2 Let Israel shout, “God is always merciful!”

HYMN: Up From the Grave He Arose, refrain only

Up from the grave he arose,
with a mighty triumph o’er his foes;
he arose a victor from the dark domain,
and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

SCRIPTURE Colossians 3:1-4 (NRSVUE)

1 So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth, 3 for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory.

HYMN: He Lives

I serve a risen Savior,
he’s in the world today;
I know that he is living,
whatever foes may say.
I see his hand of mercy,
I hear his voice of cheer,
and just the time I need him,
he’s always near.

Refrain:
He lives, he lives,
Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me
along life’s narrow way.
He lives, he lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know he lives?
He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me
I see his loving care,
And though my heart grows weary,
I never will despair.
I know that he is leading through
all the stormy blast;
The day of his appearing
will come at last. (Refrain)

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian,
lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs
to Jesus Christ the King!
The hope of all who seek him,
the help of all who find;
None other is so loving,
so good and kind. (Refrain)

Special inspiring music from the Armstrong Chancel Choir, along with special guest musicians: Pat Counts and Bob Gray (trumpet), Hannah Oprea (French horn), Steve Hoock and Kim Trytten (trombone), and Benjamin Mueller (tuba).
