Mission Trip

Vertical Impact is Headed to Niagara Falls!

Mission Trip, July 14-19, 2019

The Trip

Students will have an opportunity to experience the two sides of life in Niagara Falls—both the beauty and the brokenness. YouthWorks partners with a wide variety of service organizations in this city. Serve through work projects where you’ll partner with soup kitchens, homeless shelters, senior centers and volunteer with children’s programming. Students will have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty Niagara offers by visiting Fort Niagara State Park. End the week with local residents, enjoying fellowship through a community meal. YouthWorks has partnered with this community since 2003.

Space is limited! This trip will run on a first come first serve basis. If everyone registers early enough, there is a chance we can get more spots if we need them. So get your registration in ASAP!

Fun Facts

About Niagara Falls

4 Niagara Falls is made up of three waterfalls: the American Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls and the Horseshoe Falls. They combine to produce the highest flow rate of any waterfall on earth.

4 Water from the falls flows into Lake Ontario and drains into the St Lawrence River before ending up in the Atlantic Ocean

4 63 Year old schoolteacher,  Annie Taylor was the first person to go over the falls in a barrel in 1901. (She survived)

4 Approximately 5967,833 liters  of water flows over the falls every second.

4 The word “Onguiaahra” (pronounced on-ge-a-ra) appears on maps as early as 1641. It and the later version “Ongiara” are Indian words usually interpreted as “The Strait” or “Great Throat”, although the more romantic “Thunder of Waters” is sometimes given. By the time the first white man arrived at the Falls, the name in general use was “Niagara”.
